Charlie Boy

d. November 10, 2021

Charlie Boy was adopted from the St. Francis Animal Rescue Shelter 10 ½ years ago.  The trip home from Pet Smart was a rough one as Charlie Boy was very uncertain of his future crying and whining all the way from Forest Lake to Montevideo.  It didn’t take long for Charlie to settle right in.  Charlie, as we called him or Chuck if he was in trouble, soon became “Ruler” of the household.   Charlie had several quirks and loves.  He loved to be covered up with a blanket often burying himself so you could barely see his nose.  He especially loved to snuggle in the warm laundry straight from the dryer.  He loved to have baths, if he felt it was time for a bath, he would jump into the tub waiting to be found so he could enjoy his “SPA” time.  Stuffed toys did not survive five minutes with Charlie.  His goal was to get that squeaker out as soon as possible and play with that forever. He always took his squeaking toys with him outside especially his beer bottle.  Charlie loved to shred cardboard of all types and sizes, his favorite seemed to be the empty paper towel rolls.  Charlie was grateful for his food as he always had a high-five to give when he was served his meals.   Each morning after breakfast, Charlie sat on his favorite coach on patrol for rabbits, squirrels or any other character invading his space.  He loved windy days so he could go outside to chase and bark at the leaves blowing all over the driveway.   Charlie always wanted to be in the limelight with visitors, dragging pillows or shoes around trying to get everyone’s attention.  Charlie overcame several health battles over his time with us, including a serve leg injury.  That didn’t stop him from running, jumping, chasing birds and living out his dog days to the fullest.  He also fought a battle with cancer for over a year and six months, but finally losing that fight. Charlie loved his vet Dr. Stacy Lewison and her staff who gave him the best care throughout the last few years.   Charlie was met at the rainbow bridge by his sister, Nellie, cousin Major and friend Duke. Play hard in doggy heaven, Charlie Boy.  We can’t wait to see you again for a high-five and a wet sloppy kiss!!
